Cardiac MRI

Do you need to have a follow up cardiac MRI within a certain period of time after a MINOCA to accurately pick up on e.g. acute myocarditis? If it’s left for several months is it then too late to pick up on more accute underlying causes of the MINOCA?

Myocarditis might be difficult to detect after a few months... a cMRI would detect if there was scarring or swelling etc, but that might not necessarily diagnose Myocarditis as other events can cause this.

The MRI is normally used asap after the event to aid diagnosis, although I've heard they can be used during follow up where required to check on the progression of scarring etc where required.

Your cardiology team will be able to advise on your individual requirements.
