I am taking a 4-day trip to New York in December for my 60th birthday I have had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy which has been successfully treated for 4 years, but I am now having tests for typical atrial flutter. I am looking to get travel insurance, is this possible and at what cost?

Try Admiral. As to cost if you go online to a comparison site you will get a range.

If you're under investigation it might be more complicated... I've a 5 day trip to France coming up, I was struggling to find insurance when I was under investigation. Now the investigation is over, its nearly £30 for the 5 days... I went with Puffin.

If you've the option, maybe wait until you've got all your results back before sorting insurance?

If your hospital has a Support Group then it might have a list of Insurers. Otherwise try Wythenshawe in Manchester. The Group has been going for years (my ICD was in 2011) and has loads of info.

We have been looking for an annual policy for Europe, and having had some very large quotes, went through medicaltravelcompared.co.uk and found a very reasonable policy with Travel Insurance 4Medical.co.uk at £407. Perhaps they will have a good price for the USA too.

Not what you're looking for?
