Excessive flatulence

Since taking bisoplorol, lostain, furesomide and apixaban for a damaged aortic valve, I have sffered from excessive flatulence. It is extremely embarrasing and uncomfortable. Has anyone else had these problems, and is it connected with the heart condition or the medication?

Any feedback greatly appreciated. George

Hello :-)

There has been so many posts on here in the past about upset stomachs and flatulence and one thing a lot of them have in common is taking Bisoprolol

Of course I am not a Doctor but I would imagine this will be caused more than likely with your medications you are taking I know I get worse IBS since taking my cocktail of heart meds

Speak with your Doctor I am sure they will be able to help as well as give you the reassurance that it is your meds and nothing else :-) x

Hi ,thank you for your reply. It's reassuring to know other people have had the same problem, although it would be best if no one had this problem. I will talk to my doctor about it. Thank you again and good luck with your own treatment. x

As others have said it can be a real problem for some with the medication we are given.

When I first had issues some 9 years ago the indigestion I suffered was horrendous, that was also accompanied by flatulence.

Our GP prescribed me Omeprazole with quite a high dose to begin with and that resolved the issue.

Hi George. My husband suffers with windy episodes (burping a lot) but our GP said Bisoprolol could be the culprit. He's on a low dose but was also prescribed Omeprazole 20mg which does help.

Hope you get some help from your GP. All the very best. Jan xxx

Hi, thank you for your reply, it seems Brisopolol is the culprit. Will try to get an appointment with the doctor! Best Wishes, x
