It takes quite a while for everything to heal , especially inside where they have made the pocket to sit the PM. I e had mine for almost 2 years and although it’s not sore it an still be uncomfortable to sleep on that side.

Dear bluebeet

Welcome to the forum and all the knowledge and support that it can offer you, I hope that you find it as inspirational as I and many others do.

You don’t tell us how long you have had your pacemaker, what sort it is or where it is placed in your body.

I have a CRT-d { Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy with defibrillator} fitted, which is the largest of the Pacemakers and just under the skin of my left chest { pectoral } some have a smaller unit and some have it placed under the muscle layer.

I think that the problems that we all have are similar and that there is quite a bit of damage done { nerve wise } when these amazing things are fitted in to us.

Mine { after 15 odd weeks } still tells me its there, but the pacemaker nurse { rhythm technicians } say that mine has bedded in nicely and the odd pains, grumbles etc are down to the body healing.

My chest on that side is still notably numb and that may or may not come back with time.

One of the secrets of getting well is a good nights sleep and if you can achieve that by the means your using then I wouldn’t worry to much.

If you are worried about the pacemaker or have any other questions then you should have a hot line to them and they will be glad to help or even arrange for you to see them.

Take care and please keep us informed.

Hello, Blue1958Thanks for your reply, have just looked up pacemaker implantation date (13 August 2021), just over a year. Pacemaker Type: ESSENTIO MRI DR.

I will ask hospital to see if it needs resynchronising as it’s been in over a year.👍. bluebeet.

Thanks for reply, Buddy00,I have had mine over a year now. Do you have to have pacemakers rechecked every year? 👍 bluebeet

Have had a pm for 14 years with a replacement 3 years ago (when the battery needs replacing the generator section is changed but the leads remain in place). The only time I feel the pm is when I lie in bed on my left side and curl up. The pm settles itself where I can feel it. I find it reassuring. During the first 6 weeks after the pm being implanted it was a bit sore where it was put in but that wore off. If it is causing you a problem then phone your pacing clinic and ask for advice. They wouldn’t want you to feel worried or uncomfortable. Maybe you are still a bit stressed and your muscles are tensed after the procedure which can be be a uncomfortable. Best wishes.

Good Evening bluebell. I had my pacemaker just gone 3 years and after 1st month I have never had a problem sleeping on that shoulder at all. Might be worth mentioning that to the pacing team they might just x-ray it. Brian
