I saw the recent post about coming off Bisoprolol and Isosorbide. I’m on 10mg of Bisoprolol and 100mg of Isosorbide, the isosorbide was increased from 40mg daily to 100mg about 2 months ago. I felt fine at first, but in the last 2 weeks have found it harder to walk very far, and never up slight inclines or hills!! I am waiting for a phone consultation AGAIN from my heart consultant, due on 16 September. Am very concerned after reading so many complaints about Bisoprolol, especially as I’m on a higher does for atrial fibrulation!!! My angina cannot be sorted by a stent as theartery or vein is too blocked, thus the increase in Isosorbide. But I don’t feel very well, and don’t know what to do, HELP

Hi. I’m so sorry that you are going through this. If you have started to feel more poorly I would encourage you to ring your gp or heart team. Don’t suffer in silence. I’m on 10mg of bisoprolol it does make me feel lethargic. I had countered this by telling myself that it was doing good for my heart but now I’m asking the heart failure team if I can reduce it to see if it improves my symptoms. I don’t know if bisoprolol is the only culprit but a cardiologist I saw recently did say that it can make you tired and lethargic. Obviously we are all different and have different reactions to meds so don’t just stop taking anything without speaking to your doc first. I don’t know anything about your other medication but I think you need to speak with your gp and see what they are prepared to do. I really hope that you get to the bottom of this and are able to find some resolution. Good luck.

I've said this before, so I don't want anyone to think I'm obsessive about it, but bisoprolol seems to have so many side effects. It looks like you are on a high dose. As far as I'm aware, and I'm not medically trained at all, but there alternatives to it so I should insist that you are weaned off it and put on something else, if only on a trial basis.

I'm convinced that Bisoprolol is making me feel nearly as bad as my angina did! I had a stent to clear a 90% blockage in one of my arteries 6 weeks ago and can now walk up hills and so on absolutely fine but come 5.30 in the evening and I'm a total washout! I'm waiting to discuss further with my cardiologist in a month or so.
