Part of my daily meds are the water tablets spironolactone 25mg and Furosemide 40mg, in this sweltering heatwave I wonder what others on similar meds are doing with regards to drinking plenty of fluids.

Water tablets and Heatwave.
Dear Ocset,
hello to you as this heatwave wakes up another day down here in the south.
I just continue with the same medication { similar too you I take both spironolactone and furosemide } as it is taking the access water from around my heart and ankles.
I have upped my fluids and keep a close eye on my weight for any extra water retention, but so far I have remained stable.
Personally I think that the medication is more for water retained by the body which seems to be constant in its volume regardless of how much more I take, In my case { only } this was proved by measuring in and out of fluids { another thankless job care off the NHS }
A quick call to your Dr/Heart nurse will tell you if it is safe for you to up your fluids, as I said in my case what goes in had very little to do with what I retained, yours maybe a different case, as I know some on here are on a very restrictive fluid intake.
Thank you for an interest post, I’m sure it will generate a lot of differing answers.
Take care.
I am also on a small dose of Furosimide and Spironlactone for fluid relief around heart and in lungs. Still keeping to regime. Saw |Cardio. last week who did not re. any change due to hot weather.
Good morning....same meds for me too ....I have just kept my water with me and taking regular sips....yesterday's humidity I think will most probably have affected people more ...it certainly did me...but think as long as you are sensible and keep hydrated and an eye on any rapid weight increase, all should be ok. Seems pretty much the same here today as yesterday so another sticky one to look forward to lol. 👍
I have only been on spironolactone for 5 days and lisinopril for about 8 weeks so a bit of a novice to this. But the reason I went on spironolactone is to help the blood pressure and the main reason was to help the gas transfer in the lungs to blood to boost my Vo2 figures. Weather by reducing the water retention helps gas transfer or if it is benefit of spironolactone I don't know.? Bit of a guessing game with all the info about but the cardiac nurse said it was to improve the breathing and oxygen levels. Because I had a good stress test and they got alot of data. It proved that my epstein anomoly causes exercise intolerance. My lungs are in good condition so hopefully the spironolactone will help to improve my current situation. But it is a waiting game. Regarding water I will continue to drink as iam fortunate not to have water retention in my legs. May be round my middle but I blame middle age spread that my excuse. Good luck.
