Viral Myocarditis

Anyone out there wanting to chat about having myocarditis? And the anxiety that comes with it? I have it, going for my 6th MRI in three years. I have extensive fibrosis of the epicardial lateral wall. :-(

I am 37.

Hi Francesco, I was diagnosed in October 21 with myocarditis and 'probably' pericarditis, and lots of others on here too, who have been so helpful with their support and advice❤️It's worrying having a heart condition that may resolve, and may recur, but no one really seems to know.

In March I was told mine had almost resolved but there are days when I'm out of breath after showering or walking up stairs, and the feeling of having an elephant sat on my chest comes on daily. I was told if I have those symptoms to get back in touch with the Cardiologist- but they've never gone away!

The anxiety I feel is overwhelming most days, my advice is reach out to all the support services, the nurses on the BHF helplines are amazing! You're not alone

😊

Thanks for your reply! My heart dilation is borderline, I do read a lot of comments on here which talk about being out of breathe doing the simplest things, somehow I don’t have that (yet). My heart dimensions are still borderline. My anxiety kicks in every time the cardiologist mentions the word ‘extensive scarring’ - and I think was has this happened to me!

My hope is that one day there will be a cure for this and that the scarring can be reversed. I am always on the look out on Google for any new news on this.

Has anyone here undergone new experimental drugs that target scarring?

I don’t take medicines at the moment. I do feel a burning sensation in the chest at times, I know it is heart related, but I try not to think of it as I get anxious.

I am due to get a heart monitor and MRI as a routine check up to see how the remodelling is going. I pray that I am still borderline and looking for improvements.
