Hi all. I'm new to this. I have recently been diagnosed with Atrial flutter and have a leaky heart valve. I am taking apixaban and wondered If others who are taking this eat oily fish such as salmon and mackeral?

Many thanks.

Ha ha. Well if that's the only downside think I'll risk it. Only asked because fish oils are a natural blood thinner and am taking an anticoagulant. 😀

My brother has AF and is on Apixaban. He has no dietary restrictions other than to avoid the obvious foods that work against heart health. I think all good things in moderation is the way to look at it. I'm post HA, stents and bypass and I certainly eat oily fish in moderation. 😀

Hi. Thanks for your reply . I wasn't told if there were any foods that could interfere with apixaban so doing some research as believe fish oils are a natural blood thinner. As you say I think eating a heart healthy diet and foods in moderation is the best way to go. I am going to try to follow the DASH way of eating as much as possible. This is all very new to me and a bit overwhelming at the moment and I'm still trying to get my head round it all.😀
