Evening All

So I have a Dickie ticker and so far have had four episodes that have required mild shocking to reduce my bpm. The last one caused a clot to go into my brain and led to a mini stroke. Since that they have increased my flecanide and bisoprolol and also now put me on apixiban . My question is does anyone else on said medications suffer with tiredness and a feeling of being off balance , oh and my heart rate still goes up to 80bpm when my usual resting on my medication is 50bpm, should I be concerned about this ? Sorry for the essay but any help or suggestions would be greatly thanked.

Have you checked your BP as you may be suffering hypotension (lower than healthy BP). Definitely talk to your GP.

I'm a new boy to this forum, but I soon realised from the posts that there is no 'one size fits all' with medication, and side effects are common across all the drugs ( I swelled like a balloon when on Amplodipine). If talking to your GP/consultant is problematical, the BHF nurses may well put your mind at rest..

It sounds as if you have Atrial Fibrillation and the 'mild shocking' was 'cardioversion'. There is an AF Association forum on HealthUnlocked in which you'll find more answers. Many people describe Bisoprolol as making them feel tired, at least initially.

I'm not a cardiologist but 80bpm is nothing to worry about. Talk to your medical team about your worries - they may be able to switch drugs to something that suits you better.

Hi. I’m on bisoprolol and digoxin and had a cardio version in January for atrial flutter. I had a stroke last year linked to endocarditis. My resting heart rate is now anywhere between 65 and 85, my surgeon said that was absolutely fine and not to worry. The bisoprolol (10mg) makes me dizzy and I have sleep disturbances but I’d rather have that than the AF. Speak to your gp or the cardiac nurses if you are at all worried. We all have individual responses to our meds and nobody would criticise you for getting checked out if you have concerns.
