Welcome to the forum,

My husband has a similar device implanted 4 years ago after a cardiac arrest. He lives life to the full (well until Covid). Hope you find the forum useful.

Dear 4578

A warm welcome to you to this part of the site.

May I be bold and recommend that you fill out your profile fully, because it will help others in helping you and pointing you into the right direction.

Your first post states what so far , you have been diagnosed with and of course the placement of your CRT-D. Cardiac Resynchronisation Defibrillation machine.

What it didn’t really say is what help do you need at the moment and how we on this forum can provide that help.

Again a massive warm welcome to you from very like minded heart people .

Looking forward to finding out more about you.

Hi 4578 . I had a CRT D on 17th Dec having spent 6 weeks in hospital . How are you coping with it . I have only 35% of my left ventricle in action . It would be nice to compare notes

Hi Essie20 Thank you for your reply. I am looking to find out more about people who have had a CRT D fitted for their experiences with it as I would like to be more informed to help support my brother who has been diagnosed with LVSD. He was diagnosed about a year ago , with severe LVSD and has just been offered the CRT with option of the defibrillator or without it. He came to me with this news the other day , and we are in the middle of deciding what he is going to do, hence me putting my post on to try and find out more, we have so many questions between now and going to his next appointment.

I hope you are feeling okay since your operation and don't mind sharing your experience and journey with me. May I ask a few questions about the CRT D ? And excuse if they might sound a bit silly , but it's all whirling around our heads at the minute and causing worry and anxiety. What was the recovery like after having it fitted ? Were you in hospital six weeks because of having it fitted ? Did the doctor explain what would be the procedure if the defibrillator did go off after a heart attack ? Could that lead to another lengthy stay in hospital and condition worsen ? Sorry to blurt out so many questions at once ,I hope you don't mind .

Wish you well in your recovery from op and take care 🙏💐

Hi 4578 , I am still only 5 weeks in and getting better each day . It was 3 and half hours of lting still on 1 pillow and not moving with my head turned to the right . Each hospital could have different procedures though . I sat ip afterwards and had my arm in a sling for 48 hours and padding over where the defibrillator was fitted . It wasnt that painful just a lot of aching really . You can see the outline of mine just below my collarbone but if I was bigger built you probably wouldnt . I am now walking regular but still can't lift heavy things or put my arm above my head. The 6 week stay was due to my bloods not being right and I wasn't a priority I was told as I was fine otherwise . I caught MRSA in there as well which put me back 10 days !

The defibrillator is supposed to correct any irregularity in your heart rhythm so I'm told but they say it won't happen again 🤞🤞. Hope this all helps , take care

Heart attack 2012, 5 stents. Heart Failure 2019 Left Ventricle damaged by heart attack, multiple meds EF down to mid 30's. Advised by consultant to have CRT-D. Day surgery at Radcliffe - in at 7-30 out by 4pm. Some minor discomfort for a week or so. Definitely wouldn't be without it. Wish you well.
