Hi all has anyone every had the Ross Procedure, is this something that can happen in the UK? I've been doing research and not sure if at 52 I would eligible but it is the option I feel would be the best (given my limited knowledge!).
I have Aortic Stenosis...
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks. Dianne.

Hello... To my limited knowledge the Ross procedure is mainly used for children and younger people as it allows the heart to grow. Your posts suggest only your aortic valve is affected. If this is the case with all other valves being OK and no serious artherersceloris in the coronary arteries even a TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Insertion) may be possible. This is what Mick Jagger had done in early 2020 and he was back working out within three months despite being 75 at the time.
Hi Dianne, I had the Ross procedure but as a child and believe it is only a good option for children so the valve grows with you, and by having the swap it will later cause issues with your pulmonary valve. This is speaking from my experience - I’m not expert so this might not be the same for everyone! I have just had my Aortic valve replace again with a great tissue valve which is working just a good
Oh I’ve been doing research and it’s seems it’s ok up to 50 ish and is better because of longevity and no need for thinners. But I will know more when I have my appointment. I don’t want to keep having surgery but I don’t want to love on thinners either !
Hi, you don’t stay on blood thinners with a tissue valve. I am 10 weeks post op having had the Ozaki procedure that used my own tissue taken from my pericardium. It was open heart surgery though.
