Hi everyone, Its has now been 3 weeks since I had a CA at work at the age of 42. Came completely out of the blue with no signs that I remember other than a sore throat the day before hand I have no memory of the Saturday at all. I was in good health or so I thought so has come as a huge shock and change. I had a stent fitted to LCX and discharged 4 days later on loads of meds. My fit note for work is till 30th, I have changed my diet and now use a treadmill for 30 minutes walking each day if I dont go walking outside. This has just been so much to process especially how close I was to checking out, try to tell myself Im one of the lucky 10 out 100 and Iam as similar happened to my Mam a few years back and she didnt make it! Anyway just thought I should share my story as this forum has been a good source of info and help to me. Thanks for reading James.
OOH CA 3 WEEKS AGO: Hi everyone, Its... - British Heart Fou...
OOH CA 3 WEEKS AGO
Morning James,
Welcome to the forum, not a place you ever thought you would be joining. I am so sorry to read your post and you are so young to have to face this heart issue.
When any of us face what ever the heart issue we have it’s as if the life we had flies out of the window and this new life flies in. I am afraid that’s exactly what happens we have medication to take a new diet and making sure we do our exercises. We also have doctors appointments on a regular basis but after all that we are still here we are the lucky ones.
I am so much older than you I have a couple of sons a wee bit older than you so my heart goes out to you and your family. You sound like you are doing everything to help yourself, just keep going.
Remember you are now a member of the Hearties family and we are here to lend a ear if you need to talk or a shoulder to lean on if that’s what you need.
Your life will continue maybe a bit differently but it will be a good life.
Wishing you well.
Pauline
Dear jamesnufc,
Thank you for sharing your harrowing story with us, it is good to hear from younger persons that have taken the time to inform us of their situations.
I can only wish you well and a speedy recovery, always check with your team how much exercise you can do. I was told not to rush things {if you knew me that is about the worst thing you could tell me} but then again I am a lot older than you.
Sorry to also hear about the lose of your Mum, I also lost mine {many years ago} to heart complications and it brought it all home again when my problems reared there head.
Take care
Thankyou Blue
