If this only started when he took Simvastatin, I know that in his shoes I would ask to try a different statin - there are so many others.

Irregular heartbeats either slow or fast are common when taking simvastatin. It can be dangerous so do not ignore it or fail to get immediate medical advice. Phone 111 for advice: 111.nhs.uk/

An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. Your heart is controlled by a conduction system which sends out electrical impulses. This causes a heartbeat. Arrhythmias are caused by a problem in this conduction system, which can make your heart beat too slowly, too quickly, or in an irregular way.
