Hi Dpc2019,

Yes, I had a CT angiogram in February. You don’t need to be nervous, mine was absolutely fine, the trickiest part being them trying to canulate me (as always because I have very small veins). The stuff they inject to slow the heart made me feel a bit spaced out afterwards, but very quickly wore off & I was able to drive the 130 miles home!

I know we’re all different & possibly need slightly different types of scans done for different conditions, etc, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Best wishes,

Hi , I also had a ct angiogram in July this year. I was very nervous but it was fine and they explained and reassured me the whole way through. It only lasted about 20 mins in total. I felt a bit warm and lightheaded with a metallic taste in my mouth it that only lasted a few minutes. It is natural to be anxious but I assure you that you will be fine . Good luck x

I had a CT angiogram done in June, I was worried about it but it was straight forward. When they put the dye in you think you might wet yourself .. but you don’t . The nurse spoke to me the whole time explaining everything as it was happening. The worst bit was waiting for the results but I was given the all clear, have my pacemaker and no medication now. Good luck with the procedure and I wish you the best of health.

Glad it’s over, I think we just over think things. Take care.

The risk of a "bad outcome", ie stroke or heart attack, during an angiogram is an extremely low one or two cases per thousand procedures.

All medical procedures carry risks, but the risks of an angiogram are so low, while the rewards in terms of diagnostic knowledge are so high, that it's a risk well worth taking.
