Referred to UCL London

hello, i’m looking for some advice please

i’ve been referred to cardiovascular in UCL in London because of lots of symptoms, mainly tachycardia, palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain and fatigue

have any of you been here before? what’s the travelling like? i have trouble walking due to the symptoms so i’m unsure of how attending would work. london is stressful and complicated enough without being poorly!

i’ll be seen by my local hospital first so hopefully they will be able to help with this. if any of you have any personal experience that would be helpful

thank you and hope you’re all looking after yourselves

Hello,

I live in north London.

UCLH is one of the easier hospitals in London to get to. It is close to several tube stations and main line stations.

It is just inside the congestion charge zone. Car parking is very expensive and there are no car parks nearby.

Lots of buses stop outside the hospital on Euston Road .

You can check with Transport for London about which stations have lifts. Mainline stations also provide help to people with mobility problems.

From platform to taxi rank.

Warren St Station is the closest but it's a long walk under ground from the platform to the escalator.

I have problems sometimes travelling on the tube.

I have always been given a seat when I ask and strangers have helped me get around.

It was an excellent hospital when my father worked there - admin rather than medic. Goodge Street or Warren Street are the nearest undergrounds, or get a taxi. Trying to park in the area will be unnecessary stress!

Assuming it’s UCH we’re talking about it’s my second home. Access is excellent. Euston Square underground has a lift to the ground floor and the hospital is right outside and across the road. Many buses stop right outside. If you come in to Paddington, Marylebone, Euston or Kings Cross buses all run there. Look at the TFL journey planner. Failing all that perhaps, if you can afford it, the first time you go get a taxi from the station.
