After going in hospital with pneumonia I came out with af and arrhythmia and heart failure.im on loads of meds I'm finding it abit difficult. Is it normal to lose weight I know obviously I'm on a healthy eating plan for my heart but I've lost over 2 stone in 3 weeks.when I speak to my gp they just keep saying wait for your hospital appointment. I wasnt big before but am now 5ft 11 and 10 stone.did this happen to anyone else ? Thanks

I know I lost weight when I started on this journey, stress can do that. It must have been hard for you to receive that diagnosis. But although it was not where you wanted to be, there is a purposeful life for you. It takes time, so be kind to yourself. The medical team mean well but sometimes have no tact, that's where this site helps. Ones who have been there and have tips to help you cope. One day at a time. Take care.

Thank you for replying. I know what you mean about no tact sometimes feel like I'm bring fobbed off. I'm totally new to this and have gone from never taking any meds to 14 tablets a day.myself and partner are trying to get our heads round it all!

Some pills can make your stomach sensitive, too. I lost lots of weight when they upped my heart pills. I found myself on a bread and cake diet, anything else would makes my guts very uncomfortable . Now on reduced meds and eating little and often, and a v small evening meal helps. Changing to Esomeprazole also helped, you sometimes need to switch

‘-prazoles’ …… the stomach protectors.

Hi,Had a heart attack May 2020 and lost 2 stone in a few weeks.

I went from 13 stone to 11 stone, probably a lot of it down to taking my duretic and loosing fluids.

I have stabilised at 11 stone and it's certainly more healthy for my heart.

I've gone from a 38 waist to a 34 therefore had to buy a lot of new trousers.

Hope this helps, any other questions please ask.

Thank you I'm on water tablets as I had leg oedema when in hospital.theyve halved the dose so I'm hoping that'll help. My blood pressure is always low when I get it checked at drs so theyve upped meds for that, but told me to buy a monitor for home..can anyone recommend one?

After my heart attack ( 3yrs ago in August, I thought nothing about weight until he following June when I dug out my summer clothes and they all fell off. Looked in the mirror and saw wrinkly, empty skin. I'd lost 2 and a half stones. I also had severe constipation because of the meds. The weight loss and change of bowel habit worried my GP so much she sent me for tests for bowel cancer. All clear of course. WHY Or how he weight went I have no idea. Change of diet? Meds? Who knows- it was welcome
