Ablation procedure

On Thursday 17th June had my first Ablation and Cardioversion due to Atrial Tachycardia. Had abnormal ECG on arrival. First time that's ever happened. Well and truly bruised in the groin area. I am a little confused because of being affected by the sedation they could not induce the tachycardia but they ablated anyway due to Atrial Flutters I think that's what he said. Never been diagnosed with that before. I am not due a follow up until August at the earliest. Are Atrial flutters same as Tachycardia? How long does it normally take for the heart to settle down afterwards?

Hi thanks for quick reply much appreciated. I have now taken the opportunity to look up a few things about Artrial Flutters which leave me just more worried about possible blood clots leading to stroke. I must admit I feel no different yet since having the procedure (trying to run before I can walk) still getting the same symptoms as before. I am hoping that within the next three months this will calm down thats assuming the procedures worked. What can I do in the meantime, should I now take a hard look at my lifestyle. I havent drunk alcohol in nearly 2 years. I dont smoke. My diet could be better. Exercise is hard because I don't always feel right with my balance and being light headed. Feeling anxious. I have been told that before I get my review I need to wear a heart holter for 48 hours. I am assuming thats to detect whether the Arrhythimia is still happening and that it can be picked up. Have not been told when this will happen yet. The hospital need to write to my GP first as its being co-ordinated from that end. The hospital did not prescribe any drugs to ward off possible blood clots. At present I am not on any medication for my heart condition. Did try several different ones in the past but nothing worked either I had bad side affects or the drug did not stop the fast heart rate. Very much appreciate your help. Thanks
