Need a wee!

Hi. Ever since I was diagnosed with unstable angina and had a couple of stents fitted I’ve needed to wee much more often. Is this ‘normal’, the medications or unrelated? I’m not sure that I can face another visit to my GP.

It may be medication. The main ones associated with frequent urination are diuretics. Furosemide is the most commonly perscribed - are you on this? If not maybe post a list of your medication.

Sorry othing stands out there. In fact Amlodipine, a CCI (Calcium Channel Inhibitor), can cause fluid retention in the form of oedema. Do you have any other symptoms such as feverishness or discomfort when urinating?

Thanks for your help. I’ve no fever or pain so will give it a few days to see if it settles down and then I’ll contact the GP if it hasn’t.

Hi RATP. I see you've only been diagnosed in the last few weeks, so assume this cocktail of drugs is equally new. It takes up to a couple of months for the body to get used to this sudden assault of chemicals, and your extra weeing may be a reaction to this which may improve gradually. Alternatively, are you diabetic or pre-diabetic? That can cause excess weeing. xx

Thanks very much. I have no fever or pain so will give it a week and then contact GP if it’s still an issue.
