I have left ventricle hear failure. I feel so weak with no apetite. Absolute exhaustion when climbing stairs.
The meds prescribed are Candersartan and Carvedilol (3.125mg). Furosemide aswell for the water retention ie swelling in legs and feet. Can the ejection fraction improve with time maybe with higher dosages?? Such a change in my quality of life.
I have family to support me but I just don't feel like doing going out and feel so morally low as a result. eg walks in park etc despite encouragement to do so.
I have never been a smoker. Even drinking was a very low frequency.
Just wonder if this cardiomegaly / ejection fraction will improve back with time.
Even my sensitivity to cooking has been heightened which I feel nauseaus about and find so difficult to tolerate.

I’d speak to your GP and explain how you’re feeling. I felt very similar in January were my EF was at >30. They put me on a cocktail of drugs and I felt better almost immediately. Last Echo showed EF at 41% which isn’t great but much better than below 30.
I have been taking furosemide for about 17 month and am fine on it. I was diagnosed with heart failure in November 2019 but had been feeling ill for about 2 months before I was diagnosed. I thought I had asthma.. I was told at the hospital that I didn’t have the normal Hf symptoms and don’t seem to have water retention so take it the meds are more prevention than anything. They did say my heart was significantly impaired and I was in late stage 2 early stage 3 and didn’t know how or why it happened. However 17 months on and having tried and tested some medication on my last visit I was told my heart had returned to a more normal shape and now was only moderately impaired. I’m not saying I could run a marathon or even run come to that but can do most things so I’ll count that as a plus.
Hi.Yes you can with medication. Firstly suggest only take furosemide when needed. Candesartan is the one to fix it. The max dosage is 32 mg a day. You could ask about Eplerenone as well. Ask your doctor to review your meds.
I can’t take the amount needed to repair mine because I have a low heart rate and low blood pressure, which the meds cause. You must be monitored if you raise Candesartan though.
Hope you find this useful and,no,I’m not a doctor but just trying to help
Thank you so much Tj1960. The candersartan seems fine but I feel terrible with carvedrilol on 3.125 mg (low dosage) but it is meant to help soon i hope.
Difficult to say TRST. Sudden onset of breathlessness. When I went for an ultrasound the doctor was of the opinion that it could have been a viral infection that caused the cardiomegaly.
For left ventricle hear failure EF increase will not make much difference. In six months my EF increased from 46 to 64% but still struggling with more or less all time breathlessness.
