Funny smell and angina?

I get a funny smell in my nose when my angina starts up, does anyone else get this? Its a sort of musty dusty smell, I have had it on and off for over a year and a half now and have recently linked it to when the angina is grumbling..

I have been quite stressed the last couple of days and the angina has been grumbling this morning then I notice the smell.. maybe I’m just weird?? 🙄

That's interesting.

My Cardiologist and Neurologist told me that they thought all the blood vessels in my body go into spasm including my brain.

I become very sensitive to light and sound when I have a bad episode of vasospastic angina. Along with my bra feeding too tight.

You're not weired just special 😊

Haha thanks 😊that’s interesting, I have ‘coronary spasm and micro vascular as well but they are just starting to figure me out at clinic, i was told about the artery spasms because I’m awkward to do an angiogram on , both times I have had spasms while they are trying to do it, they said initially I had wiggly arteries. Then last time the cardiologist reported to my gp that I was getting a degree of artery spasm. And that could be why I keep ending up in a&e with odd symptoms. I have another appointment in may so will ask. I also get the too tight bra thing. It’s is a nightmare!! Makes me hate all bras! I’m currently wearing one 2 sizes wider than I am because I can’t stand the squeeze feeling!

I think it was Carolyn Thomas who writes the My Heart sisters blog who came up with the phrase.

I too have the same 'too tight' bra band thing and did go up in bra band sizes in an effort to stave it off. But wearing too loose a band meant considerably less support.

Then I discovered front close bras - when the band starts feeling tight I simply unhook 2-3 hooks at the bottom of the band and the tightness feeling is relieved and I still have the needed breast support.

ETA: wired bras don't help, I miss them but the relief from not wearing wired bras is bliss.

I’m new to angina, and this comment has helped so much. I’ve been struggling with my bras for months - I even mentioned it to my GP (the only time that I’ve seen him) and he just looked at me as though I was bonkers. I’ve tried all sorts, but have now settled on unwired bras with a bra extender. Do yours get tighter as the day goes on? And do you get pain between your shoulder blades that is made worse by your bra?

(Forehead smack) Bra extenders, I never would have thought about those but that is such a common sense way to deal with it without replacing the lingerie drawer!

I also wouldn't have correlated the shoulder blades pain with it, now I'm wondering if it all wasn't related. I have multiple heart conditions, two of which can cause that shoulder and shoulder blade pain (microvascular angina and recurrent pericarditis) so working out which is trying to give me grief wouldn't have been easy. I've never noticed relief from that corresponding to undoing a few bra band hooks but I'll pay closer attention now you've mentioned it.

My feeling of tightness at the bra band only comes if the angina is playing up, once I use the GTN and undo a few band hooks it eases and doesn't come back.

ETA: men who don't wear bras can't relate, lol, unless you dare to ask them about wearing a tight support strap for their bits, then the light goes on and they 'get it'. I've only asked a medic to think about that once (and I did see immediate understanding in his eyes, lol) but I have friends who've also seen that same look of 'Oh!' in their male medics eyes on the topic.

Oh, the conversations had in clinic wait rooms about things like support for bits, LOL! It was during one of those conversations I realised part of my problem was too narrow shoulder straps, and lack of cushiony ones at that.

I wear a soft sleeping bra they have more give.

I definitely get pain between my left shoulder blade and spine as well as chest, stomach, lower left rib.

We should have a competition to find the most unusual angina symptoms 😂

Thanks for the tip on bras! I will find a front fastening one and give it a go, I haven’t worn underwired for years but even my so called comfort bras feel awful. I tried everything including loose sports bras all of them are awful and I can’t wait to just fling it off completely in the evening lol
