INR home testing warfarin
Hi Lyndon
Hope you are well I have recently been given the go ahead by my anti coagulant clinic to self test after mechanical aortic valve replacement.I spoke to the hospital and asked for some recommendations and they advised me that they use the coaguchek roche pro but you can get the smaller machine which I choose the inrange which I bought from roche for 300 pounds if you are in the UK it is vat free then the anti coagulant clinic will provide the test strips on prescription assuming that you are in the UK.I suggest you speak to your anti coagulant clinic to confirm what they use.
Thanks have you got a link to the one you purchased?
It’s a bit of a post code lottery for home testing. Some will provide test strips and some won’t, some will support home testing others won’t, test strips are expensive if you have to buy them yourself.
I have the coagucheck which is generally the one used here in the UK and is supported by my local anti coagulant clinic.
Have a look at the web site for Roche coagucheck lots of info on there, the machines cost about £300.
If it’s supported by your local clinic, well worth it, gives you a sense of freedom.
