Hello, I have a relative who had their aortic root and valve replaced 15 years ago. At a check up ten years ago, the valve was picked up as leaking. The doctor had said that the valve could not be replaced due to the root being replaced and that he should have his kids soon! Is this still the case? If the valve and/or root start to fail, is a second operation to replace these an option?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to your question although someone more knowledgeable may come along in due course.
A lot can change in 10-15 years so the information given then may or may not be the same now. The best person to ask would be your friend’s cardiologist. They could phone the cardiologist’s Secretary to ask. Otherwise their GP might know. The BHF nurse helpline is fantastic and they might know whether, in principle, it’s possible. The number is 0300 330 3311. Weekdays 9am-5pm and Saturdays 10-4.
Best wishes to you and your friend.
