Oh Fluffybee, that is hitting where it hurts 😜 as my missing tooth filling is giving me a throbbing toothache this afternoon.

I will just gaze at the picture and dream of a day in the not too distant future I hope with mended tooth and a real walnut whip 😋

I am quite sure it is the perfect remedy for fast heart rate 🤣🤣🤣

Resting my wellies today and being flumpy

Love Ellie

😋 Is my memory playing tricks or did walnut whips in the 60's have two walnut's one buried at the bottom and of course the top one, an open question as I am not sure of everyones age 😀😀char x

Yes they did. My dad used to repair their packing machinery years ago and if we were lucky, got a few freebies.

I’ve only ever known one but on the top but someone else mentioned 2 nuts 🤭🤭🤭

It was a vague memory, of mum enjoying them and Jamaica rum chocolate her Friday night treat 😋

Before the American company bought the British company that owned Walnut Whip, there was a walnut half inside at the bottom of the whip plus the one on the outside top. I used to try to let mine melt in my mouth then enjoy the walnuts - key word 'try', it was next to impossible to resist the temptation to savour the combined taste of the chocolate+whip+plus walnuts.

Oh heck, drooling on the keyboard again!

Cannot believe I missed the double nut version, now some dexterity is needed, I can make an incision to take the nut off the normal one, cut out a circle out of the top poke a walnut deep in the white bit warm the circular part to stick it to the top again then the same to seal the walnut back on the top 🥳🥳🥳😂😂

Do you like to cook and or bake? I wasn't kidding when I said I hacked it and started making my own when they took the bottom walnut out. Yes, the hack took a while to work out (but 'fails' look horrid and taste great, so not a problem:) ) and it takes patience to pour the melted chocolate over the whip to keep it slow, very slow, to avoid collapsing the whip, but in the end it is SOOOOO worth the work! My husband stands at the kitchen door drooling when I make my hacked versions.

ETA: Christmas is coming and I'm about to begin experimenting with a new version using marzipan for the whip and an almond bottom and top.

I can’t be bothered to have these awful replicas, nothing like the originals 😥

My mum loved them and I was sure it was lovely to find the nut beneath the yummy cream, then it seemed to disappear! They are not the same any more 😭

No, like all our lovely chocolates, turned horribly greasy tasteless. I now buy hotel Chocolat.

I know even Cadbury’s has changed a lot, used to be my favourite, I agree hotel chocolate is lovely but don’t know what’s my favourite right now !!!!! It was just chocolate in general but like you say things have changed, when I’ve decided to have one thing for a treat every now and then I would like nice chocolate if not I feel I’ve lost and ruined my treat time and have to wait until my next time 😳

My favourite is Bounty, dark chocolate one, seems relatively the same taste but smaller🙄

Yes sunnytoday I do love to cook and bake, I can feel a cooking session coming on today lol

I’ve people round so puts me in the mood for it more.

Wow that must’ve taken ages to finely tune that recipe, but sounds like it’s been worth it, yummy 😋 😋

Is it wishful thinking on my part, or did they once make a ice cream version? I know they used to have a walnut inside as well as on top, that disappeared something like 30 odd years ago?😞

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee• in reply togladliz

Ummmm I don’t know about the ice cream version, I just cannot believe how small they’ve become!!! If I wanted to and I know this isn’t very lady like I could put it in my mouth in one go but couldn’t shut my mouth or have room to eat it, I’d just have to wait until it melted 🤭🤭🤭
