A warning; don't delay any appointments

Just had a phone call from my urologist as I am due for some tests. He warned me to make sure I take the appointment and don't postpone it because they are heading rapidly to the stage where all non urgent appointments are likely to be cancelled as the covid numbers rise again. Mine's in 3 weeks but I have another in December, just a face to face appointment that is likely to be postponed.

Sadly it's already happening here - I'm in Tier 3 - should have had my first 12 month check-up on my ICD two weeks ago(before we went into Tier 3), but all non-urgent stuff cancelled, Instead they took a remote download from the communicator in my bedroom.

I had my first annual CRT-P check (after 18 months) last week. It seems I’m fortunate in having my device fitted privately. My local NHS Trust doesn’t routinely fit devices with remote facilities but my local NHS hospital does have a remote terminal. I’m one of their few patients they can follow-up remotely.

Mine was fitted in the heart & chest hospital in Liverpool which covers the region. Their policy is to hand out devices to sit by the bed so that (except in times of covid) you have a 12 monthly check in the hospital, and then a remote 6 monthly check. It's only 8 miles away for me, but for people in North Wales or the Isle of Man I imagine they're happy not to have to travel all that way for a 10 min check up every 6 months.

Good, I was going to cancel my heart check up again out off fear, but luckily I went this morning as some things have changed

Likewise, mine postponed from "22nd October to 12th November, one year after I was told it was urgent and would be done in 2-3 months. Hoping your date goes ahead and, Qualipop's and everyone waiting for life saving surgery. At least we know we're not alone and can take comfort from one another. Warmest wishes :)

I agree I am worried because I have a Cardiac PET scan next week and an appointment to see a cardiologist the following week.I’m really hoping it doesn’t get cancelled but equally anxious going into a hospital setting as I have lung disease.

I think we just have to trust that hey are taking all precautions. I've recently been for a CT scan, x ray and ENT appointment and apart from pressing the lift buttons I didn't feel at risk

Our GPs have cut down on face to face as much as they can but if you need to see someone or have a blood test they don't refuse

I'm in London Tier 2. I have Pacing clinic, Echo and consultant meeting booked for January. I already know the consult is likely to be by phone, even though I'll be in the hospital, but goodness knows if the other 2 appts will happen. And if they don't there won't be much point to the consult!
