Hi Malcolm - I have tried 16 hypertension meds, included Ramipril, - hopeless. Horrible unwanted side effects. Have given up on taking any of them. Taking alternatives, L'Arginine and beetroot supplements. Spikes can and do still happen, but, what is 'causing' the hypertension ? Pretty pointless throwing band aids at hypertension, does not address the underlying causes of ! Ho-Hum.

Hi Ruadh, sounds like you are better without the meds. I have tried stopping Ramipril and Carvedilol, i find i can sleep better but hypertension is still a mystery. I think the Ramipril was causing asthma attacks, and i have never had asthma!

I have not tried L'Arginine..

Its complicated as we all find out but its worth having a new complete set of blood tests as in my case I thought every negative was heart related when it wasn't. Other things creep up on you and the heart may be improving.

Hi Love101cats,

I agree, not everything can be heart related. I need to get new bloodtest done..

Hello Malcom . When people ask me what the triple bypass op was like I always say that was ok but the medication was foul. 3 months of loose stools and feeling sick . Thankfully my cardio took me off the lot and am now just on aspirin and back to normal. Took me a month to get drugs out of my system. It will be ten months now since my op. The only good side now is that my digestive system cannot cope with any junk food and I can eat healthy food.

Hi Pollypus,

Glad to hear you are recovering well. At least the healthy eating is a good thing!

Hi Malcolm, I spent months last year trying all the BP meds there were. Felt dreadful all the time until, hey presto, 10 mg Lercanopine. Its been a life saver, no ankle swelling no side effects at all. I also take 10 mgPropanolo x2 a day. Keep trying good luck
