Already on Colchicine for a week.

Had pleural effusion drain last week

Short course of doxycycline Thurs - Sunday

Neck/shoulder left chest pain since Tuesday

Temp now spiking to 38

Very tired

Pulse 110

....

Thought I had trapped nerve, think I sent the GP off on the wrong road saying I had trapped nerve - all classic pericarditis symptoms?

I have recurrent pericarditis. What you are describing does sound quite a bit like what I experience when in an acute flare including the temperature. However, I'm not a doctor and the only person who can properly advise if your doctor - someone you should telephone first thing in the morning.

I can't take Colchicine although it's the go-to medication for pericarditis. Also gout and a few other things, btw. You write you've been on it for a week - did they tell you why you're on it? Are you feeling any improvement in your symptoms?

Please update after you've spoken to your doctor.

Yeah same here, three GPs told me shoulder pain was muscular for 10 days, got admitted on boxing day with large pericardal effusion.

Still have the sore shoulder and pain across the collarbone, pulling feeling when I bend down.

Told me it could be inflammation.

I was admitted again in May with a PE, they put me on colchesine and blood thinners. Still got the collarbone pain as well as shoulder blade pain on the right side now.

I had that pain for years after the initial case became recurrent and I had to have drains twice in the early days during acute flares. I 'got used' to the constant dull ache with the occasional sharp shooting pain that mimicked heart attack. I got to where I just ignored it unless it worsened, used the worsening as a signal I might be headed into a new acute flare.

Weird thing is I developed 'angina with normal coronaries' (on exertion only) and was put on a low dose beta blocker in April 2019 (during an acute flare). I still had pericardial friction rub sound, and I still had angina attacks until I worked out how to keep those from happening - but the dull ache was gone within two weeks of starting the beta blocker. I'm on Bisoprolol 1.25mg+300mg aspirin taken once a day (am).
