Blood pressure cuff for large arms / painful

My mum needs to measure her own BP twice a day. She has a machine...Omron m10-IT, and a large cuff, but unfortunately she still finds it fairly excruciating.

She does have big arms and when they measure her BP at the clinic she often comes away in tears and with very bad bruising. It’s getting to the point where she’s Very anxious before she goes, avoids it, and even though they’ve told her to measure her own at home, she’s not been doing..... Does anyone Have any bright ideas? I can’t see an Extra large cuff on the Omron website. Is there are reasonable priced domestic machine with extra large cuff? Or dare I ask, is it possible to extend the cuff with Velcro without impacting the machine efficiency?

Contact Omron and ask them about a Wide Range cuff for that machine. You could ring or email them. There must be something they can suggest as suitable.

I got an x-large cuff for my Omron meter from Lloyds chemist for £4 or £5 , they have their own cuff £3.09

No - grip tape extension will not work. It will extend the cuff size but in so doing will stop the cuff working properly to give an accurate reading.

In desperation several months ago I used eBay (Amazon also sells Omron compatible XXL and XXXL cuffs), cost around £10 including P&P. I did try Boots and Lloyds but those websites didn't list the size cuff I needed at the time so I went to eBay.

I'm slimming now (bingo wings on the reducing side, finally!) but will hang onto the XXL cuff, never know who/when it might be needed.
