You do not get the likes of PiP because you have an illness, it is how you manage or not with it.

Here's a link to PIP on the Scope website:-

Hi I have PIP.

It's not the illness as shopman says it's how your heart condition effects your day to day life.

I suggest you contact Citizens Advice as the PIP application form is a devil to fill in.

I used this website to guide me how to fill the form in.

Good luck.

Almost everyone is refused PIP. They hope you won't be bothered to appeal.

Hi I have pip and new style esa which is based on your contribution stamps, I got help from my local council's advice centre (Scotland) to fill in the pip form, I would not attempt to do it myself, it's awful, they came to my house for the assessment and I received higher for both parts, the esa form I done myself, taking notes from my pip form, they are similar, I was then put on a support group,, as I can't get better, which means you get a higher rate and no assessments, you then automatically qualify for a blue badge for parking and a free travel card to include a companion and you don't pay road tax either, I have dcm and heart failure, I hope this helps, it's definitely worth applying for tc char

I applied, well filled in the form & sent it back, about 2 months ago & heard nothing since. Is that normal or just down to covid?

NOrmal. It can take months. I hoep you got help with the forms. Expect to be turned down. Almost everyone is turned down. They hope you won't appeal but you must. Get help from the Benefits and Work website. (NO I have nothing to do wih it, I have just used it for years forhelp wih my forms.)

I get the lower rate of PIP's daily living allowance because of heart failure. DWP tried to stop my payments when they reviewed my case last year (based on the fact nothing had changed, which seemed strange) but I won the case on appeal. It was a pretty massive undertaking though and quite stressful. They certainly don't make the application or appeal process easy.

As others have said, there's a bit of an art to filling in the form - you really have to fit your answers in the right places to make sure they will score you fairly on the information you provide. Getting some help to fill it in (e.g. Citizens Advice) is a good idea. Good luck!

Disability benefit no longer exists. It's now called PIP, personal independence payment which is based on how you cope with normal living- or not. Have a look at he benefits and work website which clearly sets out he criteria and if you pay to join you can get tremendous help in filling int he forms
