I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HOCM) I coped well with this condition until this February I went into afib and had 3 cardioversion 3 separate times but went straight back into afib few days after I get such shortness of breath being in Afib my consultant said about a ablation but only 40% chance it will free me from afib but only would be short term I feel like I go through the ablation but afib will just return is there anyone on here with persistent/permanent afib with HOCM and how do you cope

We’re a HCM family. My mum suffered with Afib at end of last year and the cardiologist prescribed amiodorone. This has worked well for her.
On a Cardiomyopathy Uk HCM chat a few months ago ablation came up as someone had only just received HCM diagnosis and was recommended the treatment. Of the others, everyone that had the treatment said they found life improved post ablation. I think it varies for each patient. The nurses on the Cardiomyopathy helpline are helpful.
