I am so surprised that - after many months of my condition being stable on the meds I have recently had problems which are worse than when it all began. Doctor doesn't seem to sure what to do. I really want to see my specialist again but the doctor didn't suggest this - should I be more 'pushy' (not my style)
Condition worsening.. why?: I am so... - British Heart Fou...
Condition worsening.. why?
You don’t say what your condition is ?
Apologies! I have been diagnosed with left bundle branch block - I am taking an ACE inhibitor Ramipril as well as a Beta blocker Bisoprolol. The dose was - I thought - settled and doing the job of giving me a few extra years of life. A few weeks ago my heart started pounding in a way far worse than before - I need to know why it might have happened. Thinking that - much as I respect and like my GP - this is not his specialist area so I will push to be referred back to the hospital.
I don't think any of us can offer a reason for your condition deteriorating. What I would say is that you should indeed push back and request to be passed to see the consultant.
My 6 monthly blood tests were due at the end of June - I rang up to book them and got a call back saying doctor says you're condition is well managed so will leave then till December - I protested saying that while condition may be well managed, it's only 18 months since my heart attack and I felt that going 12 months between blood tests was too long. Got another call from the admin people, will do it in October - said still not happy - came back again - my blood tests were done last Thursday. The may well think I'm a nuisance, but it's my health we're talking about - if I don't care about it, who will.
Please go back and be pushy
Sounds like you need to be accessed again. Was it a GP or a consultant who prescribed your meds ? The body has a strange habit of adjusting itself sometimes not for the best and medication has to be adjusted or changed. Push for a check up.
Stay safe and calm
Unfortunately I think you have to push. I've had a terrible time recently and it's only starting to be resolved because I kept pushing.
I would insist on being referred to a specialist, it's your right.
I see you've written (in a reply) you are going to push - good thinking. In your OP you write being pushy isn't your style and I was going to say you need to change your style.
Please update after you've gone all bolshie on the GP (said with a bit of a giggle - but it's not bolshie to be on top of getting to proper care).
