I suggest you ask the Blood transfusion service.

I am unable to donate anymore because of the medication I am taking.

My understanding is that you can if you are one year post surgery, your medication has not changed for six months and you get your GP's go ahead. Good luck.

As a general reminder to everyone blood is still needed so donate if you can!

My GP said on no account it's to dangerous on account of your Blood Pressure. The risk is not worth the reward and I am O rh Neg which is always in demand

I was upset not to be able to give blood anymore.

My 3 children are going next week

One A Rh pos, O Rh pos and O Rh neg 😊

They would not have mine because of Type 1 diabetes and when they changed the rules I developed angina. Now it's "no way Jose"!

I asked the blood service this question a few weeks ago as I have undergone a heart bypass. They explained that if your bypass was due to a congenital heart problem then you could give blood again. However if it isn't then you can't give blood (which sadly rules me out of donating again).

I had my cabg 2 years ago and asked then as I have given blood for many years.I was told definitely NO.

If you had a blood transfusion during or after the procedure then you can’t give blood. This is true for anyone who had a transfusion after 1980 as they can’t test for CJD! I keep checking the blood transfusion website to see if it’s changed but that’s still there.

Probably not, but check with your local Service. I volunteered but due to medication following heart surgery in 2016, I was told that they would not take my blood.

I have given blood all my life and gave 52 times. I was then told I couldn't which for me was heartbreaking, but I understand why. I gave the blood transfusion people a call and they advised me. Best of luck xx

I can no longer donate despite 29 donations of O neg, it's the meds that are the problem.

Sadly I believe not. I had a triple bypass last year and when I told the blood donor service they said I would not be able to donate again in future.

I had an emergency triple bypass ten months ago and have been told that as I am on blood thinning medication (due to AF since the op) and other meds I shouldn’t give blood. However, as I am B rh negative rare group I will be double checking with my doctor when I get to a year after my op just to make sure.
