Good morning all,

been a while since I posted, just thought with lockdown now in force in Spain and looking like coming there I would let you know how it actually works in Spain, hopefully this will help alleviate some fears.

So the sixth day out of 15 here, the rules are to me very simple, you are allowed, one person only, to go to the supermarket, to the pharmacy and to the petrol station. Any more than one person in a car, unless there are extenuating circumstances, risks a fine of €600. there are local police, national police and now army roadblocks to prevent this and yes there are still idiots who do not comply. Whilst cases still rise, instances of infection are dropping, so isolation does work. The health services here are overwhelmed, doctors surgeries are shut unless you are at risk and have the virus you do not see a doctor. The supermarkets were overwhelmed with people stockpiling for the first few days, now they are fully stocked, even loo rolls. Alcohol shelves looked like a hurricane had hit, but now my local has wine back in and all spirits available (gin is about 8e). The elderly, those over 65 and those in need have an hour, sometimes two shopping alone, which is a great thing. I know most of you wont stockpile but i urge you not to, just buy what you need.

For all those here you will be high risk, or a member of your family is, take all available precuations, I have masks, yes the shops sell them, I have gloves but everything that is open provides these too. Anti bacterial gel is everywhere, I carry my own as well. Please feel free, I do, to moan at those who shop or congregate in groups, this isnt good for anyone. Finally stay safe it will be over eventually.

My best wishes to Michael, he seems to have the place looking spick and span!

Oh and its pouring down and 12 degrees here1

You too sir, Spain is good thus far, getting health insurance, as I am sure you can imagine, was a bit of a faff but finally got a company to take the risk. Hows things with you?

Good

I have a echocardiogram on Thursday if the Hospital are still doing appointments, and a follow up on Monday looking to have CRT installed !!

We owned an apartment in Calahonda for a number of years. When I was working in the US my wife had Spanish lessons. Now when we are in Spain people ask her is she from South America, as the lady who taught her from was Venezuela !!

Very best Regards

Ah, I can understand that, as I am still learning the language. Started with a south American teacher but Spanish in Spain is different.

Hope all goes well for you

Hello Mark... Good to hear from you! Yes, keeping busy but not as planned as I had a Spring Plan that circumstances have delayed - hopefully only until the summer. The next plan here is a virtual gym so recruiting a gym manager. We need to keep fit even if confined! Best regards, Michael...

Ah Michael, so much to admire. Keeping fit is indeed needed, we are having a place built, hopefully ready this year lol, was supposed to be July but...anyhow we have a hectare of land. Olives and almonds to be grown, a succulent bed to be formed plus veg. I'm planning on being around for a while yet
