Bisoprolol

My wife was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) about a year and a half ago. She first was having extreme Tachycardia in the middle of the night, every night for about a week. Spent a few days in the ER, and was referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They diagnosed her within the “realm” or POTS. She also has Factor V Liden. Her Dr. put her on Bisoprolol and ever since it seems her symptoms have increased and gotten worse. Numb tingly hands, blurred vision, Ocular Migraines, severe anxiety, sluggish, shoulder and neck pin within the nerves, not muscular. I’ve felt since day one on Bisoprolol it wasn’t a good fit but she doesn’t want to try to come off of it and try a new BP med. She says because she takes such a small dose that she doesn’t feel that it’s the reason she’s getting worse. Anybody have a similar story of feeling their body is just shutting down while on Bisoprolol? Or have another med that seems to work better for them?

Hi there

I also have POTS and was put on Bisoprolol 5 months ago.(wish I knew then what I know now) was on it for just under 3 months before stating to withdraw as it cause my blood pressure to drop very low every time I stood up and would have to hold onto something while walking because of the light heaviness and dizzy ness also both my feet went numb and I was getting anxiety which I never suffered before BUT the withdrawal is worse than being on biso. I was on 2.5mgs and am still only dow to 1.75mgs because of the horrible withdrawal symptoms. I thought I was getting anxious while taking it but it is now at least 20 times worse and also insomnia like I have never had before. Chest is tight and sore and have no energy. I will not be off this dreadful tablet till at least August and then I have been told I would have rebound symptoms for weeks or even months. Not everyone suffers either from taking them or withdrawing but if you are having side effects while on them there is a possibility you will have some withdrawal

Blurred vision, and tingly hands are common with ocular migraine which can be triggered by anxiety. I experience all these and also tingly toes, sometimes mild numbness in my face and various visual disturbances with mine. Usually lasts for up to 2 hours occasionally on and off for several days. Rarely have a headache. Could these be symptoms be related to the migraine rather than caused by the Bisoprolol. Would it be worth asking for a medication for the migraines to see if that helps.

I feel terrible on low dose of Bisoprolol for Svt. I do not have quality of life anymore with side effects , it’s an effort to carry out my day to day chores. I am waiting to see a electrophysiologist but have heard nothing. I live outside London and our nhs seemed stressed and disorganised. Sorry I can,t give you advice but you,re not alone.
