Hi. Looking for advice from others in advance of my Out Patient appointment tomorrow that follows heart attack and stent 5 weeks ago. What Questions should I ask the consultant? A little more detail if it helps ..... main artery blocked (LAD) but stented, Type 2 diabetes, on discharge was told a couple of smaller arteries part blocked but will keep an eye on them. TIA.

I personally would want to know the % blockage in the artery that was stented and the % in those that weren't and will these cause problems in the future?
Has the HA damaged the heart, if so will it improve? Are there any longterm effects?
If an echocardiogram was done after the stent what is your the ejection fraction?
This is a measurement of the percentage of blood leaving your heart each time it contracts and tells you how well the heart is pumping. Normal range is 55-65% but may be reduced if there was damage to the heart muscle.
What were your cholesterol levels and what levels would be desirable to prevent futher heart disease.
Will you be followed by the cardiologist or referred back to your GP?
If you are going back to your GP when should you be seen and how often? ie: yearly
Will you continue with all the medications started after the HA longterm or will some be stopped after a period of time.
It is best to write down any questions so you dont forget. I am sure others here have good advice also.
Also ask about cardiac rehab ( exercise & diet advice) some areas are better than others at offering it. This is helpful as it also can bring you into contact with others who have the same issues for support.
