Am i entitled to financial help with Heart Failure?
I would call 111 and ask them, this is a serious problem IMO.
From the 111 website - NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do.
Contacting the CAB would be more relevant!
I agree with Heythrop51.
I would gladly walk you through the process of a PIP application.....a very stressful process and not for the faint hearted.
It is not a case of giving anybody a 'kick' as you suggest elsewhere to be awarded this benefit.
That is very good of you to do that, it is always more stressful doing it yourself. A friend of mine was trying to get benifit for his young kids when his wife left and he had to "kick" like hell. Maybe he didn't know the system, so your help here will be invaluable. Hats off to you Milkfairy.
No I didn't know the system nor did I get any help.
I am confused as I thought you lived abroad.
Now I am confused, if you didn't know the system how do you know it is stressful, no matter nice of you to help.
I am referring to something that happened 20 years ago. He had to stop work to take care of a 2 year old and a 4 year old and it took him nearly 3 months to get any money. I have only lived abroad full time for the past 3 years, but still have a UK business and pay my taxes.
I was successfully awarded a PIP when I applied without support or prior knowledge of the system.
My face to face assessment had to be stopped because I had a severe episode of angina. I was admitted to hospital soon afterwards.
I have a relevant, recent lived experience of the process of applying for a PIP.
No one in need should be denied or wait for any benefit they deserve or are entitled to be awarded.
Hi
you could try phoning your electric company and enquire about the warm from discount which if you meet thier requirements would get £140 off your bill .
Hi Peter. If you’re in the UK and your HF means that you’re disabled then you might be able to claim PIP. I’d suggest you have a chat with your local citizens advice bureau. They’ll be able to advise.
Good luck Peter, thinking of you. Give them all a kick until you get what you need, no one should be in your situation.
I would contact your utility companies for help and also go to the citizens advice and see if you can claim any benefits.
My husband suffers badly with the cold, we put draft excluders against all the doors, heavy curtains on windows & doors. Wearing layers of clothing rather than one thick warm outfit keeps you warmer. Is your home insulated? If not you may be eligible for free insulation under a government scheme, again I would ask the citizens advice about it.
Hi petersutton,
The Disability rights UK have this information about what you maybe able to claim

If you do decide to apply for a PIP I strongly suggest you get help and support.
As well as Citizens Advice Bureau there are some other organisations who for a fee of about £ 20 provide you with the information you need to know about how to fill the forms in. There is an art to filling in the 40 page application form.

I have to keep warm too.
I wear lots of layers. The best thermal vests and leggings I have found are from Uniqlo who are on line.

Then I pile on the jumpers and cardigans and have 2 trusty hot water bottles.
I hope you find the help you need.
