A simple explanation is a heart attack is where the pluming of the Heart goes wrong, cardiac arrest is the electrics going wrong. A heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest in which case defibrillation is urgently required to try & shock the heart back into normal rythm. I'm sure someone will be along soon with a better explanation, if not the BHF website will be able to tell you more.
