I'd guess that the overwhelming majority of people on this forum have, at least occasionally, wondered if they'd ever see tomorrow.

If it was night after night that could get a bit tedious. But every now and again then I found it certainly helps clarify your priorities!

It’s normal to be scared; we’ve probably all been through that stage here. Please try not to be anxious as that will only make you feel worse. Heart issues affect anybody regardless of age or health. Other than making any sensible lifestyle changes there is not much you can do to change your present condition except let the experts do their job, so there is nothing to be gained from worrying. I assume that you have only recently had the diagnosis and that you are on some medication but you are still awaiting tests in order to identify a cause and appropriate treatment. There may not be a quick resolution for you but stay positive. I’m sure there will be a good outcome for you at the end of the day.

Hi Nancy I think these feelings are heightened when you first get diagnosed and you find a balance in time. There is a YouTube video by Sanjay Gupta which might be helpful I will try to find it and post a link here. X

OK it's York cardiology, video is called Life: not just an absence of death.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray Thee Lord, my soul to keep

If I should die before I wake

I pray Thee Lord, my soul to take

If I should live for other days

I pray Thee Lord, to guide my ways

Hello. My husband has Dilated Cardiomyopathy. He was diagnosed out of the blue 2 years ago. It was a real shock and took some getting used too. We found Cardiomyopathy UK really helpful and also the BHF living with Cardiomyopathy booklet. Here’s the links

cardiomyopathy.org

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

I hope these help you too. Both charities have a dedicated nurse run helpline and both are wonderful for talking through your situation, how you feel and the next steps.

Best wishes c

Hallo Nancy, I also have cardiomyopathy, diagnosed 18 months ago along with angina, 2 leaking valves & more. I was scared at first, but soon got used to it all. I'm very lucky I've been to all the places I ever wanted to see & done everything else on my "bucket list" too. So now I feel quite serene & know it doesn't matter if I die in my sleep (a lot better than dying of a painful cancer, which I had 29 years ago). I'd prefer to live long enough so that my little grandchildren will remember me. They are only aged 2 & 3 now.
