Settling after WOW!

After our dash to the Hsp. on Tuesday for my husband to take advantage of a cancellation and have his quadruple bypass things are starting to settle down. He came out of ICU last night and is now in HDU. His stats aren’t to good but as yet no cause for alarm. Dr. doing rounds late this afternoon that hopefully looking to Monday for discharge. I would like to thank everyone who posted messages of support and prayers for my husband, I found great comfort from them

Sending best wishes to you both. Glad it’s done for and wishing your husband a stress free recovery.

All the very best to you and your husband. He'll be absolutely fine. ICU to HDU and then ward (all positive steps moving towards the hospital exit/car park)!

Sounds good so far. The time in the ICU/HDU units often seems a function of bed availability to move on to the next stage rather than just medical need. Don't worry if he is in hospital slightly longer. The norm seems about five days but I was only discharged on day 8. All the best, MichaelJH.

That’s good news.

My hubby had his quadruple bypass a year ago. He was in hospital for13 days post op - don’t be in too much of a rush to get home - and recovered well when he got home. His biggest issue was sternum pain and the sensation that the bone was ‘grating’. He also lost his appetite and struggled to eat so developed some vitamin deficiencies and became anaemic, resolving those has improved that.

He set himself a target of being fit enough to drive a combine at harvest and achieved that!

Allow yourselves time to recover and don’t try to do too much.

All the best.
