Furusemide v bumetanide!

I hope I've spelt it right! I wonder what the difference is. My husband was on furusemide for years but was switched to bumetanide after kidney failure. Is there a reason we all seem to be on furusemide? I hope it's not just a cost issue. I'm struggling with fluid retention at present though on 120g of furusemide. I could read up but I find all your simple, practical advice so helpful.

I don't have a heart doctor and my g.p. made errors early in my diagnosis do am a bit nervous but eventually had response from h.f. nurses at hospital and have some good advice so I'm able to increase my furusemide by 20 mgs per day and still be under maximum dose. Bumetanide will be used at some points if furusemide is no longer affective. So I'm tranquil again and the swelling on my feet has gone down. Thank you for responding.
