New to Atrial Fibrillation

Good morning everyone and a happy Christmas to you all. I have just attended A&E after my second, in exactly 7 months, episode of AF. I am going to the GP tomorrow to hopefully find out all about it. I know nothing about it and I am not sure where it will lead but I will keep coming back to this forum to get extra knowledge and support from other people like me. Poonie. (A lady of a certain age).

Hi Poonie, there’s another forum on this site called AF Association which is specifically for AF and related arrhythmias. The forum is full of helpful and friendly people who know exactly what your going through. I was diagnosed with AF this year and have found wonderful support there.

If U have episodes of AF Months apart. That doesn't sound like permanent AF.

It sounds like Paroxysmal (AF) Atrial Fibrillation.

Which basically means it's not there or detectable all of the time.

I was diagnosed with this when it suddenly started post Open Heart Surgery.

Hi

I’ve had paroxysmal AF for over twenty years. M cardiologist put me on meds to control it and since then it hasn’t had a noticeable impact on my life.

Best wishes

Phil
