colestrol advice
I have been Type I for over half-a-century so TBH you have got quite a bit going for you!
First a few basics:-
a) what is your BMI (PM me if you want)
b) how is your diabetes currently treated
c) what is your cholesterol level
Your starting point has to be to reduce your weight by healthy eating (GPs can now prescribe WW or Slimming World) and exercise. This will reduce your cholesterol - the degree depending on your previous habits - and improve your diabetic control. In fact in some cases the diabetes can go into remission - unlike the rubbish out out in the media that it is cured (it returns with eating junk and)or weight gain).
When I know your cholesterol levels I can comment further. Feel free to PM if you wish.
P.S. I have assumed as a diabetic you do not smoke...
I agree with MichaelJH plus... this could be your "starting point".
I have reduced my cholesterol level by taking statins and following a Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) diet after watching the film "Forks Over Knives". My weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and pulse have come down (80kg, 120/70, 2.7, 50-60bpm), sometimes lower, such that my doctor has been reducing my medication. My cholesterol went down after a few weeks and has stayed down. She has taken me off the statin and a diuretic. The low pulse is due to the prescribed bisoprolol.
