Hello and welcome! I would suggest ringing the BHF nurses who have plenty of experience and can discuss your friend's options and concerns.

Hi creid15, I have had a pacemaker a year now after being sent to hospital by ambulance from the gp surgery. I had complete heart block and very low pulse (22). What aspect of it worries her the most? I really believe I wouldn’t still be around if I didn’t have the pacemaker so for me, the only alternative was not acceptable! Bhf literature is very good and the stories of how people cope are excellent too. Hope she gets the info she needs to make the right choice for her. Helen
