confusion around terminology

I don't know about you lot but sometimes I feel that my diagnosis is spoken in riddles!? just trying to understand the terminology. I have a pfo with a large inter atrial septal aneurysm... so I understand this to be a hole between the two chambers which is surrounded by a bulge which is a defect in the structure of the heart. is this the same as adult chd? and is congenital heart disease and congenital heart defect the same thing?? I don't know why this matters to me.. it just does...

Hi Lizzie welcome. I too have a pfo and found it very difficult to get info on it

This article is great and it explains things really well.

heart.org/en/health-topics/...

There is also a good Facebook group it's mainly based in the US but I have found it useful. Drop me a message if you want more details

thanks and yes a group would be useful! I notice a lot of the pfo ones are American

The best one I have found is PFO Research Foundation - pfo mirgaine stroke.

Every one on there is so helpful and although some things differ being a US based group there are still a lot of Brits on there
