Why do I feel so weak . I had more energy and felt much better before I started this journey with heart failure. Is it the meds and emotional toll it takes on your body. Is there a positive outcome would like to know if anyone feels the same. I have cardiomyopathy with dilated left ventricle. EF 36%. I am on the awaiting list for rehab. Still waiting for my appt. for Liver specialist.

I'm much the same. I started with fluid on the lungs and this resulted in me becoming exhausted very quickly. This was sorted but the meds to lower my heart rate and blood pressure to protect my heart have more or less the same effect.

In my case, it is believed that the root cause is an arrhythmia so I am just waiting for treatment for that before I can begin my rehabilitation.

Hi there,

Could be your meds, what have you been prescribed? Your emotions will also play a huge part in this, can you try some breathing exercise to help you relax, breathing in for say 5 seconds then out for 7, try and imagine you are deflating your lungs as you do. Sit back in a chair and relax your arms as you do this

Regards

Mark

It does get better. The meds and the shock of realising that life will never be quite the same again are two factors and the trauma your body has been through adds to the feeling of being weak and watching the world rather than being part of the world. Rehab helps - if nothing else it teaches you to be patient as you endlessly do the exercises.......... the information part of the initial rehab programme also gives you lots of things to think over e,g, diet and lifestyle. I am seven months post heart attack. The meds continue to make my life a misery at times but now I have a GP who actually listens and he is working on changing the amounts I take. Taking a degree of control helps - work the diet, do the exercises and take the tablets regularly. Give yourself one thing to achieve every day so you feel you are making progress, even if it is only doing the dishes or going out for a coffee (or tea as it should be). My partner came home yesterday with a little set of floor standing pedals he bought in Lidl - I know I have learnt patience because when he said " so you can do more exercise at home now" I fought down the urge to murder.....

Thank you everyone that has repiled to me it is a real help as you feel so alone even if you have a good partner and family. I am feeling a little better. I do worry a lot. Will be less stressful when they have sorted the liver problem out still waiting for appt. Still grieving my father who died new years eve so not feeling emotionly strong as normal. On the sick from work until the 24th to rest. Hopefully I can cope with everything then gpwouldnt give any longer perhaps so I wouldn't sit at home and worry. Anyway calliope153 you made me smile at the end of your post know the feeling xx
