I have just bought annual travel insurance and want to fly to Cyprus to visit relatives. Is it safe to fly for almost 5 hours with PAF . ? My first cardioversion 3 weeks ago has just failed. SO my insurance does not cover PAF . I feel worse now than before my cardioversion. And hot flushes are tiring. It doesn't help having a fear of flying. Should I put off flying until my heart is stable? This is such a nuisense.

I think you should have a chat with your GP or possibly you could call the BHF nurses. I don’t think PAF itself would prevent you flying but the fact that you feel worse post procedure and your anxiety levels will only increase as a result of you fear of flying, it might not be quite as straight forward. Fingers crossed, you’ll get your holiday.
seeing GP this afternoon and going to cardiac clinic for ECG this Friday. I will do anything to feel better than I do now. Out of breath without exertion, tired even after sleep, loss of appetite, and overall weakness. I detest feeling like this. I have climbed mountains, jogged, walked over the hills and moors, used the gym, swam, yoga, pilates, meditation. I have even flown round the world, flew long haul and short haul many times even tho I've never liked flying. Now this, a feeling of uselessness.
No longer than 9 hours, I’ve been told I may have to be put out to protect my heart.
My husband is going through the same thing. His cardioversion also failed. He thinks it’s more the medicines making him feel so tired than the PAF. He feels fine, not quite normal but pretty good, until he takes his meds. As long as you are on blood thinner, I think your doctor will say it’s fine to fly 5 hours.
