I am just wondering why so little research money goes too the venous system rather than the arterial system. It just does n't seem right that so little is known about the one way valves that return the blood to the heart. Does anyone have an explanation. The Whole System needs investigation and suitable research funding.

Hi there,
Surely the whole cardiovascular system research being carried out covers this as I understand the venous system to be, heart wise, the pulmonary circulation taking blood to the lungs for oxygenation, an integral part of that?
That said, my knowledge is limited as I understand it chronic venous disease cover varicose veins and leg ulcers.
I probably need to get out more rather than spend time reading through too many medical journals and pages of research......
regards
Mark
Dear Mark,
You said "I probably need to get out more etc" Perhaps you would like to join me at the International High End Sensor" Conference in Brussels where I shall be looking for suitable sensors to address the lack of research into the valves of veins in the lower leg. Indeed, if you are aware of any research into this part of the main leg muscle where Deep Vein Thrombosis forms, I shall be very pleased to be updated.
Hi Marisco,
Thank you but I can't make that, try having a look here anticoagulationeurope.org/, they seem to be doing good work in thrombosis and DVT
cheers
Mark
