Super Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT)

I'm new to this forum and would like to hear from others with similar cardiac related issues.

My problems began about 3 years ago when I just passed out whilst in Spain after a 2Km walk on flat land. A few weeks later after a short bike ride around a reservoir I again felt very dizzy and nearly passed out. The recurrence of these symptoms began to get more common and I sought medical guidance.

After many tests including ECG, Stress Exercise, Nuclear Heart Scans, Ajmaline Challenge, etc. apart from diagnosing Mitral Valve Regurgitation and Right Bundle Branch Block nothing could really account for my dizzy spells.

I was then fitted with a heart monitor. This proved to be a great little device and captured all the incidents when my heart raced away at over 100 beats per minute for a few seconds at a time. After many months and dizzy spells occurring with increasing frequency I was referred for an Ablation.

The first of these was not successful and in fact made my symptoms worse with incidents and severity of dizziness occurring every day and sometimes several times a day. They were so bad that I had to lay on the floor until they passed.

I was given a 2nd ablation about 2 months later and this time it was remarkable how the dizzy spells stopped immediately.

However I now find that if I do any form of heavy physical type of activity such as digging in heavy clay soil or a lot of gardening I have to rest as I get slight chest discomfort and get out of breath. Is this normal, have others had a similar experience?

I have a follow up appointment with my consultant in May and so I might get some answers then.

Hi Malacite and welcome to the forum.

I haven't had your SVT issues, but the out of breath and chest discomfort along with your previous history would suggest a trip to A&E to get it checked out, at the very least to your GP please, I think waiting until May isn't a correct course of action. Rather be over careful

take care
