What's the best pill to regulate periods and reduce period pain?

My 20yr old daughter has been on Microgynon since she was 15 because of very heavy periods and extreme period pain. We think it adversely affects her mental health so want to consider an alternative. Can anyone advise or help? Thanks

It really depends on what hormones may be affecting her. I would approach the GP or a reproductive health unit to discuss, its more likely the progestogen. There isn't a roadmap for these and effects on mood, so it may be just a case of trying different ones until she finds one that suits.
