Asthma attack?

Hi, I'm recently diagnosed so new to all this...

My kids were fighting and in the process of trying to split them up I got stressed and couldn't breathe properly. I started to go really limp and dizzy while struggling to breathe. My husband saw and got my reliever, which he used 8 times before I started to calm down. It took me ages to be able to move, and I'm still feeling really weak and tired.

Was this an asthma attack? X

Did you experience any other symptoms for example numbness or pins and needles in your hands?

If you did then it might be a panic or anxiety attack.

Sounds like you were hyperventilating from a panic attack.

It is difficult to distinguish between an asthma attack and a panic attack when you are new to all this. If the reliever didn't help, it's more likely to be anxiety. In the same way the paper bag idea is useless if you are wheezing. You might have to look at what makes you stressed in order to make this not happen again. It includes thinking about how you are with the kids. There is a lot of advice about parenting out there (pointless asking kids to change of their own accord!) and believe me, good parenting is not instinctive!

Best of luck and keep looking at this forum. It is really useful to know what others go through.
