7 Year cycle for severe asthma

This is kinda random, but I have heard about it a few times. Has anyone heard of the 7 year cycle and that asthma moves in 7 years. I don't know where I heard about this but I have done a few times and looking back at my own asthma pattern control and severity over the years I have noticed that it does sort of change every 7 years. Particularly the last 7 years my asthma has turned my life upside down however I am now starting to come out of the bad patch and gaining control. Having been diagnosed with brittle asthma for a specialist centre 5 years ago after 2 years of bouncing in and out of hospital to now where I am really thinking I no longer have brittle asthma and I now have moderate to severe asthma.

I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts are on the 7 year cycle?

This would fit with me ..I had asthma until I was approx 7, then nothing until I was 14. Would be nice if it goes away by the time i'm 21!

I was diagnosed at 12...then diagnosed as brittle at 18/19...maybe when I'm 26 it'll go completely!! This is very interesting, maybe just coincidence or a rumour but I'll be interested to see what comes to light!

Only ever heard about the seven year cycle for Eczema, which I did follow!

I do remember being told about the 7 year cycle. Up until I was 14 my asthma did follow that. I then (after a 9 month period with no problems whatsoever) had a dramatic down-swing. I then had 6 months of it behaving until the total nightmare that is what I have been putting up with since April last year. 20 months of bouncing from hospital admission and chest infections to the next and not having any let up.

Before I was 20, I had asthma as a child up until I was 7 years old, then it calmed right down, I was asymptomatic completely and was able to have a relatively normal life. Then when I was 14, it came back with a vengeance and I couldn't go anywhere without my blue inhaler. This settled again until i was 16 years old only to flare back up when I was 18 and it all began.

Its a mad cycle, but we are yet to find a pattern for my asthma.

it would also fit with me as i had asthma until i was 7 and then got it again at the age of 14 i am now 15 but it would be nice if it would go by the time i turn 21

This ones been doing the rounds for many years now but I've yet to see anything concrete to back it up. It's been known for a while that young children who develop asthma can grow out of it by the time they are 7. As is usual there are always exceptions to every rule. I'd need to see some research before I personally would believe this 7 year cycle rumour.

I developed asthma when I was 7. My grandad had it and we think its a genetic thing. It kind of eased off when I was 14 and very occasionally id have to use my inhalers on really cold or really humid days and ive not changed since. Im now 27 and haven't had my bad cycle again.
